WILLIE J. DAVIS

Willie Junius ``Bill'' Davis, died June 1, 1996, in a local hospital.

A native of Smithfield, Va., and a retired lieutenant colonel of the U.S. Army, he was the manager and later owner of Fuller Products Company and Pilgrim Employment Service in Norfolk. Originally a member of Little Zion Baptist Church in Smithfield and later joining the First Baptist Church, Bute Street, where he was a member of the men's chorus, he was also a member of many military and civic organizations. Mr. Davis was predeceased by his parents, Willie Fenton and Henrietta White Davis of Smithfield.

He leaves to cherish his fond memory his loving and devoted wife of 43 years, Iris C. Hemmings Davis, formerly of Amherst, Va.; a son, Lt. Col. Rodney M. Davis of Heidelberg, Germany; a daughter, Cheryl Davis Poarch of Virginia Beach; a son and daughter, Steven A. and Krystal M. Davis of Alexandria, Va.; three grandchildren, Chiara and Gino Davis of Heidelberg, Germany, and Chantel Poarch of Virginia Beach; two sisters, Clementine D. Rogers of Smithfield and Lucy D. Fair of Chesapeake; a brother, Andrew L. Davis of Suffolk; a devoted son-in-law, Leander Poarch of Virginia Beach; a loving sister-in-law, Gloria H. Elliott of Norfolk; six aunts; two uncles; two nieces; three nephews; and many other relatives and friends.

Friends can join the family for a wake Thursday at 7 p.m. in Hale Funeral Home, Norfolk. The funeral will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Friday by Dr. Robert G. Murray in First Baptist Church, Bute Street. Interment will be in Roosevelt Memorial Gardens.
