SOPHIA BONNER

Sophia Bonner, of the 2800 block of Keller Ave., died May 31, 1996, in Sentara Norfolk General.

Mrs. Bonner, the widow of Richard Bonner Sr., was a native of Morlina, N.C. She was a member and deaconess of St. Marks R.Z.U.A. She was a member of the Female Usher Board for over 40 years. She was president of Sylvia Brown Missionary Circle; president of the Senior Citizens Park Place, and Senior Citizens of St. Marks R.Z.U.A.

Survivors include five daughters, Lillie Jones of Norfolk, Dorothy Waddy, Delores Giles and Jean Thomas, all of Baltimore, Md., Barbara Bonner of Norfolk; three sons, Richard H. Bonner Jr. of Norfolk, Howard Earl Bonner of Philadelphia, Pa., Vernon Bonner of Norfolk; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be conducted at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday by the Rev. Alvin B. Thomas at St. Marks R.Z.U.A. Church. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The remains will be ready for viewing today at 3 p.m. The remains will be taken to the church at 10 a.m. The family will assemble at her residence at 11:30 a.m. for the procession. Carlos A. Howard Funeral Home is in charge.
