MEDICAL BENEFITS MEETING: Do you want to have your voice heard concerning your military health care benefits? Join the Naval Medical Center's Health Care Consumer Council meeting at 10 a.m. June 11 in the Norfolk Naval Air Station Theater, Bldg. U-40.

Rear Adm. Robert S. Cole, Commander, Norfolk Naval Base, will host the council. This meeting is a forum for providing the most up-to-date medical and dental information to active duty members, their families and retirees living in the Hampton Roads area.

SCHOOL PHYSICALS SCHEDULE: The pediatrics department of the Portsmouth Naval Medical Center begins its annual school physicals program this month.

Appointments made be made through August 30 for children entering kindergarten through college, ages 5 through 17, by calling Tricare at 677-6000. School physicals take about four hours and include laboratory studies, growth measurements, eye exams and a physical exam by a health care provider.

VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR: The Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society Hampton Roads Auxiliary has named Joan Trader its 1995 Volunteer of the Year. Trader has volunteered more than 1,200 hours as layette chairwoman for the auxiliary, ensuring that 1,600 newborns in Hampton Roads received a ``Welcome to the World'' gift of handmade baby items.

CHARITY CONTRIBUTIONS: In May, the Tidewater Officers Wives Club distributed more than $22,000 to area charities, such as Hope House Foundation, CandII House and the American Red Cross. The money was raised through the Tidewater Collection Boutique, a non-profit shop that sells one-of-a-kind decorating items and jewelry. The shop, which is open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., is located in Ely Conference Center, Bldg. SP-17, at the Norfolk Naval Air Station.

HERO SPEAKS AT GRADUATION: Air Force Capt. Scott O'Grady, whose F-16 was shot down over Bosnia last year, will be the guest speaker at the the Norfolk Collegiate School commencement ceremony at 3 p.m. Friday . The school is located at 7336 Granby Street in Norfolk.

CHANGE OF COMMAND

Capt. John R. Sprouse Jr. relieves Capt. William E. Kozak as commanding officer of the Coast Guard Facilities Design and Construction Center in Norfolk. Sprouse's most recent assignment was as the Tidewater project manager for relocating the Atlantic Area Maintenance and Logistics Command from Governor's Island, N.Y., to Hampton Roads. Kozak is retiring from the Coast Guard and will become the director of maintenance at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore.

Cmdr. James Gigliotti relieves Cmdr. Joseph O'Donnell as commanding officer of Attack Squadron 75 (VA-75) at the Oceana Naval Air Station. Gigliotti was most recently assigned as executive officer of VA-75. O'Donnell will become a federal executive fellow at the American Enterprise Institute. VA-75 is scheduled to deploy to the Mediterranean this month aboard the carrier Enterprise; the squadron will disestablish next year, making the Sunday Punchers the last of the Navy's A-6 Intruder squadrons.

Cmdr. Christopher Cain relieves Cmdr. Scott Jones as commanding officer of the guided missile frigate Clark. Cain was most recently assigned to the staff of the Atlantic Fleet. Jones will report to the State Department in Washington.

Capt. Joseph Draude relieves Capt. Robert Kjome as commanding officer of the Norfolk Naval Dental Center. Draude most recently served as commanding officer of the Parris Island, S.C., Naval Dental Center. Kjome is retiring after 30 years of service, and he will be retained as a periodontist at the Little Creek Branch Dental Clinic.

Cmdr. Richard Poore relieves Cmdr. Dale Gabel as commanding officer of the Coast Guard Naval Engineering Support Unit in Portsmouth. Poore's most recent assignment was as chief of the Resources Management Division Supply Center in Curtis Bay, Md. Gabel is moving to Alameda, Calif., where he will be commanding officer of the cutter Munro.
