``Changing the City Charter to Include the Citizens'' will be the topic of a ``Community Dialogue,'' 8:30 a.m. Saturday at Uncle Louie's restaurant, Wards Corner.
The event will be sponsored by the Norfolk Federation of Business Districts, a coalition of merchant groups and citizens from several areas of the city.
The discussion is aimed at possibly changing the city charter to allow public referendums on a broader range of municipal policy issues and to have direct election of the mayor. Citizens are welcome to raise other possible changes, said Bev Sell, a spokeswoman for the business group.
Committees will be formed to work on the ideas throughout the summer and prepare an action plan for the fall, Sell said.
