Carl Paulson of Virginia Beach qualified for his first United States Open golf championship June 13-16 at Oakland Hills outside Detroit by shooting 71-69-140 during 36 holes of qualifying at two suburban Columbus, Ohio, country clubs.
Paulson, in his second season on the PGA Tour, opened his quest for one of 32 spots with a 1-under 71 at Brookside Country Club in Worthington, Ohio, on Monday. He completed his qualifying with a 3-under 69 at The Lakes Golf and Country Club in Westerville, Ohio, on Tuesday.
Paulson's 140 enabled him to escape an 11-man playoff. by CNB
