Former CBS commentator Charles Kuralt will be the kick-off speaker at the Elizabeth River Project's conference, ``Elizabeth River Restoration,'' June 20 and 21. The project is launching an 18-point action plan to restore the environmental quality of the river. Presentations on stormwater, pollution prevention, habitat enhancement, sediment contamination and more will outline cutting-edge opportunities for citizens, businesses and government to be a part of implementing the action plan.
Opening activities will be from 5 to 8 p.m. June 20 at Nauticus, including a riverfront celebration, leadership commitments to the plan and an address by Kuralt. Full presentation of the plan and exhibits will be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 21 at Norfolk Waterside Marriott. Admission for both days is $80 or $30 for June 20 only.
