FOR SALE: 1 MINI STOCK CAR; DRIVER HUNGRY FOR NEW RACING CHALLENGE

After five races this season in the Mini Stock division at Hampton's Langley Speedway, the sign above Kevin Harrison's No. 25 car has read: Winner. But the Yorktown driver has had another sign in his car's window all year: For Sale.

Harrison, 30, who has won every race he's entered this season, is in his fifth year of Mini Stock driving and wants to move up to another division.

``After having success, we think it's time to look at doing something else,'' said Harrison, who took the track championship in 1994 and won 14 races in Mini Stock last season. ``There's not much more we can do in this division. If somebody comes and offers me enough, I'll sell it. I've got mixed feelings about selling that thing. Sometimes a race car is hard to sell, though, so if you get a good offer you've got to take it.

``But I'm in no hurry and if we finish the season, that's fine. It's still fun.

Harrison had a lot of fun in Saturday's 25-lap feature. He started 16th before taking the lead on lap 19 and holding on for his fifth victory.

``We're racing against older cars with chassis that have been in wrecks and they don't have the engineering our car has,'' Harrison said. ``We've got a great crew and I've got some experience driving, so we've got the whole package right now.''

Harrison said he has considered moving to the Grand Stock division, but is ``keeping any options open.''

STOCK REPORT: In the Late Model Stock division at Langley, Norfolk's Phil Warren took the points standings lead by two points over Mike Buffkin of Tabb after Warren won his second straight feature. . . . Gloucester's Mike Conner was disqualified after ramming Roger Sawyer of Chesapeake in the pits after the Late Model Stock race. . . . Chesapeake's Albert Falk debuted in Saturday, finishing 17th.

SURF'S UP: Internet users can check out the Langley Speedway home page at www.octal1.com/langley. The page, which started last week, offers driver profiles for the track's five weekly divisions, a photo gallery, ticket information and schedules.

SPREADING THE WEALTH: Four different drivers have taken checkered flags this season in the 4-cylinder Modified class' first six races at Southampton Speedway near Capron, Va. Last year, when the division was Mini Stock, 12 different drivers recorded victories, a track record. Kendall Barnes of Sedley, Va., has won twice, while Alan Kee (Boykins, Va.), Brian Farrow (Conway, N.C.), Jay Williams (Franklin) and Keith Edwards (Pendleton, N.C.) have one win each. Kee is the current points leader.
