Jean Smith Ellis, 59, of the 100 block of Lakewood Drive, died June 6, 1996, at University of Virginia Medical Center, Charlottesville, Va.
Mrs. Ellis, a native of Southampton County, was a clerk at Sentry Food Mart. She was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church, Suffolk.
Survivors include her husband, Shirley L. Ellis; a daughter, Cathy E. Nakamura and her husband, Val H. Nakamura of Vista, Calif.; a son, Gary L. Ellis of Suffolk; a sister, Peggy S. Holloman of Suffolk; a brother, Jimmy Smith of Carrsville; three grandchildren, Shane Nakamura, Cainaan Nakamura and Tyne Nakamura, all of Vista. She was predeceased by her mother and father, Doris Wilkins Smith and Irving Smith.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday by the Revs. Douglas W. Gibson and Don Harvey in Hillcrest Baptist Church. Burial will be in Holly Lawn Cemetery, Suffolk. The family will receive friends at Harrell Funeral Home, Suffolk, from 6 to 7 p.m. Sunday and other times at the residence.
