HAVNER H. THOMASSON

Havner Harold Thomasson, 87, of the 700 block of Potomac Ave., died June 8, 1996 at his home after a lengthy illness.

Mr. Thomasson was born in Salisbury, N.C. and had lived in Gastonia, Statesville and Winston-Salem where his family owned Winston Laundry and Dry Cleaners. He was formerly a mortician with Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home in Statesville and Snellings Funeral Home in Portsmouth. He was retired from the Pure Oil Company. He was a son of Sidney Scott and Juanita Harrell Thomasson, both deceased, and was related to the Rev. Billy Graham and former president Harry S. Truman.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Hathaway Walton Thomasson; a daughter, Joyce Thomasson Eskey; a grandson, Richard Lee Eskey Jr.; a sister-in-law, Evelyn Paige Walton; and relatives in both North Carolina and Texas.

Funeral services will be private with Foster Funeral Home in Portsmouth handling arrangments. The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to Broad Street United Methodist Church or the Boy Scout Troop of the church.
