A 16-year-old girl was found shot to death in a motel room, and an 18-year-old man has been charged in her death, police said.
Rescue crews and police were called to a room at the Econo Lodge motel in the 1000 block of Tidewater Drive just after 1 p.m., where they found the victim, identified as Angrea Sanderlin, 16, of the 800 block of E. Virginia Beach Blvd.
She was pronounced dead at the scene within a half-hour.
Roy L. Jones, 18, of Norfolk was taken into custody at the scene and was later charged with murder and using a gun while committing a felony. He faces an arraignment Monday morning in Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court.
``We do know they were acquainted, but what the relationship was, we're not sure of at this time,'' said Larry Hill, a police spokesman. The motive for the shooting also was unclear.
