TIME TO SHAPE UP, PARENTS

Watching news coverage of the Children's Defense Fund march on Washington was very disturbing. It was appalling to see the exploitation of those children by their parents and political groups.

The problem is not lack of government funding. All the government funding in the world will not make better parents. Instead of parents using their children to beg for government handouts, they should get jobs and take responsibility for their futures.

Children are not going to learn dignity and responsibility from able-bodied parents who are unproductive and irresponsible. Mothers who want their children to be well-adjusted, productive citizens should set the examples. Parents should stop blaming the system for their failures. Then, maybe, the children of this nation can have a brighter future.
