CAREER TRACK

ARTS

Peter M. Huber, an attorney with Willcox & Savage in Norfolk, was elected president of the Virginia Opera Board of Directors. He succeeds Dixie A. Wolf who served a two-year term and will continue to serve on the Executive Committee of Virginia Opera.

Diana L. Blanchard was named curator of the Peninsula Fine Arts Center in Newport News. Most recently, she served as programs assistant and a graduate intern at the arts center.

BANKING

Donna L. Campbell was named administrative officer and mortgage loan originator at Jefferson National Bank, Hilltop office in Virginia Beach. She was formerly a finance specialist for the Norfolk Redevelopment and Housing Authority and also a mortgage originator at Signet Mortgage.

Commerce Bank named David W. Edmondson senior vice president and business services officer in Virginia Beach. He joined Commerce in 1986 and was previously the senior vice president/loan services.

A.P. Roosendaal II has joined Commerce Bank's Peninsula commercial loan division. He is currently a senior vice president. He was a senior vice president and a commercial loan officer in Portsmouth and was the executive audit officer.

Cathy A. Dalton, formerly vice president and loan review division manager/credit administration officer of Commerce, was promoted to vice president and business services officer. She works in the the Portsmouth commercial loan division.

Also, Mark J. Hubbard was promoted to business services officer of Commerce Bank's construction loan division at the Greenbrier office. He was previously loan adjuster II, loan adjustor and account executive.

And, Michelle F. Poage has joined Commerce Bank as a loan originator of special mortgage products. She works in the Greenbrier office.

Cenit Bank promoted James E. Hinton Jr. and Jeremy R. Starkey from branch officers to assistant vice presidents. Hinton has been affiliated with the bank for three years as manager of the bank's Portsmouth office. Starkey is manager of Cenit's Main Street Tower Office in Norfolk.

Janet W. Mercadante was named assistant vice president at Signet Bank. Prior to joining Signet in 1993 as an investment specialist, she was an investment representative for James Mitchell Co. and a financial planner for IDS Financial Services in Virginia Beach.

COMMUNICATIONS

Jean K. Hammond was named director of educational sales and training at Dynamic Systems Integration in Virginia Beach. She will be responsible for the development and training program for schools, businesses, and clients who institute interactive multimedia systems for their information management and delivery. She was formerly director of libraries for Norfolk Academy.

FINANCIAL SERVICES

The Money Store Investment Corp. in Norfolk named Scott Gilman business development officer for the Hampton Roads area of Southeast Virginia. Prior to this, he was a commercial loan officer for Commerce Bank in Virginia Beach.

HEALTH CARE

Pamela A. Guthrie was named director of social services at Beverly Manor of Portsmouth. Prior to this, she was director of social services at Beth Sholom Nursing Home in Virginia Beach.

LAW

Virginia State Sen. and attorney Thomas K. Norment Jr. was named a partner and a member of the litigation and government law practice groups of the Newport News firm of Jones, Blechman, Woltz and Kelly. Norment will work in Newport News and Williamsburg. He has practiced law from his own firm in Newport News and Williamsburg since 1973.

Michael A. Glasser with the Norfolk law firm of Glasser and Glasser was unopposed for re-election to the Virginia State Bar Council for the Fourth Judicial Circuit (Norfolk). He will serve on the council, the governing body of the Virginia State Bar, representing Norfolk's 832 lawyers.

MUNICIPAL

William S. Kiley was appointed deputy director for the City of Virginia Beach Department of Emergency Medical Services. He will supervise all operations of emergency medical care and oceanfront lifeguard services for the city.

Ted Baroody was named director of development for Festevents for the City of Norfolk. He was previously marketing director for Benchmark Communications where he was responsible for marketing and promotional activities for Oldies WLTY 95.7, WTAR Newstalk 790 and The Coast 93.7.

SHIP BUILDING

Arlene B. Selber was named vice president for business development at Newport News Nuclear, a division of Newport News Shipbuilding. She was most recently vice president of corporate business development for Parsons Engineering Science Inc., Pasadena, Calif.

TECHNICAL

John J. Gibson was named executive vice president of S3 LTD in Virginia Beach. S3 is a firm focused on outsourcing and providing technical support services to the government. Gibson was previously with ITS Inc., Hampton.
