DONATIONS NEEDED FOR BOX FANS

Virginia Power and the Virginia Department for the Aging have joined in a program to deliver box fans to the elderly in the state who need help cooling their homes this summer.

Local agencies on aging administer Fan Care by screening applicants and distributing the fans. The Association of Electric Cooperatives sponsors the program in the areas it serves. The program will continue until Sept. 30 or as long as funds last.

To be eligible for Fan Care an individual must be a state resident, 60 or over, have need for cooling assistance, and meet income guidelines. Eligible clients can receive one fan per cooling season, and the fans become the property of the recipients.

Organizations wishing to become Fan Care Partners should contact the Virginia Department for the Aging toll-free at 1-800-552-3402.
