AND HIT AGAIN

I totally agree with the June 4 letter from Jimmie L. Ellis regarding Virginia's unfair taxation of federal retirees.

Since most if not all Social Security benefits (up to $14,000) are exempt from federal taxes, Social Security benefits are automatically exempt from state taxes. Thus, federal retirees must pay an additional state tax of up to $805 ($14,000 x 5.75 percent) in addition to the age-credit tax discussed by Mr. Ellis.

It is time for all federal retirees to contact their elected representatives, both national and state, to voice their opinions to eliminate this unfair taxation of federal retirees.
