ROBERT A. OLSEN

Lt. Cmdr. Robert Anker Olsen, USN (Ret.), 58, died June 9, 1996, in his home.

Born in Suffern, N.Y., Mr. Olsen retired after 21 years of service with the U.S. Navy in 1982. He also worked for Delex Systems Inc. as an analyst. He was a member of Our Saviour Lutheran Church. He was an Annapolis Naval Academy graduate of 1961; served as a White House Social Aid for the Navy during the Johnson Administration from 1964 to 1966; former executive officer on the USS Cromwall and the ACV-2; Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity; NOW Bowling League; recipient of the Navy Commendation Medal; and Sewells Point Gold Club.

Survivors include his wife, Nancy E. Olsen; three daughters, Marilyn O. Miller of Richmond, Cheryl K. Olsen and Stacy E. Olsen, both of Virginia Beach; his mother, Lillian G. Olsen of Fairmont, W. Va.; and a sister, Carol Clelland of Carlisle, Pa.

A memorial service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. today by Pastor Kenneth R. Carbaugh at Our Saviour Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Bayside Chapel, is handling arrangements. The family will receive friends in the social hall of the church following the memorial service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Naval Medical Center, Fisher House, 853 Williamson Dr., Portsmouth, Va. 23708, or to his church, P.O. Box 5217, Virginia Beach, Va. 23455.
