SAILOR DIES OF INJURIES

A senior chief petty officer has died of injuries after a pedestrian/automobile accident at Norfolk Naval Station in which another sailor was also injured.

Jeffrey Linn Griffin, 38, a machinist's mate aboard the attack submarine Minneapolis-St. Paul, was injured about 1 p.m. June 5 when struck by an automobile while crossing ``B'' Avenue, just inside Gate 5 off Hampton Boulevard. Petty Officer 3rd Class Roberto Luis Gonzalez, assigned to the same submarine, suffered minor injuries.

Griffin died June 6 at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.

The driver of the automobile, Seaman Teri L. Washington, assigned to the submarine tender L.Y. Spear, has not been charged. The cause of the accident is under investigation.
