A 23-year-old Chesapeake man has been charged with killing his mother, whose body was found by police Monday morning on her 41st birthday.
Robert Bellmore Jr. was charged with first-degree murder in the death of Mary Jane Love, both of the 2000 block of Speedy Ave., according to Elizabeth Jones, a police spokeswoman. Bellmore is being held in the city jail.
Police on Monday did not release a cause of death pending an autopsy, but said that a weapon had been recovered.
