I live in the Timberlake subdivision, and I would like to know why the grounds are not being maintained under vacant property over at Carper Apartments. It's going to cause vandalism. Something needs to be done about it.

The entire development is in the process of being demolished. At this point, the contractor is maintaining the grounds and taking care of pest control. Most of the grass has been cut and the contractor is in the process of getting someone to cut it full time.

The demolition should be finished by December. John Peters, public affairs officer for the Naval Facilities Engineering Command in Norfolk, doesn't know when new construction will start on the site. However, after December, maintenance will continue until construction begins.

I served on the destroyer Epperson (DD-719). What ever happened to it? I left when it was on its way to Pearl Harbor and Korea. I don't know what scrap yard is it in.

It's not in a scrap yard. The Epperson was sold to Pakistan in 1977 and was renamed the Taimur. According to Combat Fleets of the World 1995, which is issued every other year, the ship is still in the Pakistan Navy.
