Sadie E. Thompson of the 200 block of Shipp Lane died June 9, 1996.
Born in Princess Anne Co., Mrs. Thompson was the widow of Ben Thompson. She was a member of Mount Zion A.M.E. Church, Virginia Beach. Also she was a member of the Deaconess Board, Stewart Board, Lay Organization and The Carnation Floral Club.
Survivors include a daughter, Faye Strong of Virginia Beach; two sons, Ben T. Thompson of Norfolk and Cornell C. Thompson of Virginia Beach; two sisters, Geneva O. Wills and Mary Minns, both of Virginia Beach; a brother, Wallace C. Owens of New York; 18 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday in Mount Zion A.M.E. Church by the Rev. Larry Hinton. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Community Funeral Home, Virginia Beach Chapel, is handling arrangements.
