Therma Beale Roberts, a 44-year resident of Anne Avenue, passed on June 11, 1996. The daughter of the late Robert H. and Ella V. Beale, she was born Nov. 21, 1933, in Emporia, Va. She was a member of Raleigh Heights Baptist Church.
She served as office manager for the H-W-R Planning Council, Norfolk area, Medical Center Authority during its infancy and the Norfolk Central YMCA. She retired from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard Branch/Medical Clinic after 22 years of service.
Survivors include two daughters, Deanna R. Sanders of Winter Springs, Fla., and Barbara Lee Roberts of Virginia Beach; a son, Ralph Vincent Roberts of Kill Devil Hills, N.C.; a brother, Robert V. Beale and his wife, Patricia, of Carrollton, Va.; two grandchildren, Kevin V. and Paige E. Sanders; a nephew, Dr. Mark Beale; special friends, Barbara and Scott Gray; two aunts, Sara and Alise Beale; and cousins and friends.
A funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the Graham Funeral Home, South Norfolk Chapel, with graveside service and interment at 2:30 p.m. in Emporia Cemetery, Emporia. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m Thursday at the funeral home and at other times at the residence. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions should be made to Raleigh Heights Baptist Church.
