LOUISE D. PATTON

Louise Dail Patton, 87, died June 10, 1996, in Chowan Hospital's Skilled Nursing Facility.

A native of Chowan County, Mrs. Dail was the daughter of the late James Henderson and Mary Chappell Dail and the wife of the late Samuel McCoy Patton.

She attended Edenton High School and East Carolina University where she earned her AB and MA degrees. She retired from the Washington, N.C. Public School System in 1971, having taught 44 years in public schools.

She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Society of International Eta State. She served as Elder of First Presbyterian Church in Washington and was an honorary life member of the Women of Presbyterian Church.

Mrs. Dail is survived by a step-daughter, Betty Patton Barbour of Knoxville, Tenn.; three sisters, Jamesey D. Hicks and Frances D. Copeland, both of Edenton and Margaret D. Sullivan of Hertford, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be conducted today at 11 a.m. in the Beaver Hill Cemetery by Dr. Kenneth Word. The family will be gathering at the home of Wendell and Frances Copeland, 124 Morris Circle in Edenton. Memorials may be made to the Edenton Baptist Church, 206 S. Granville St., Edenton, N.C. 27932. The Evans Funeral Home of Edenton is serving the Patton family.
