RICHARD GREEN JR.

Richard Green Jr., 56, of the 600 block of Georgia Ave., died June 9, 1996.

Born in Norfolk, he was a chef for the Marriott Corp., employed by Norfolk State University. He was a member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, Norfolk, and a former member of the male choir, Evangelistic Committee and counselor on 7.7 Drug Program. He served in the U.S. Army and Marine Corps and he was member of the Department of Veteran Affairs, recipient of certificate of training and as the Veterans Hospital chef.

Survivors include a daughter, Patricia Pope of Norfolk; his mother, Queenie G. Wesby of Norfolk; two sisters, Alverta Littles and Mildred Smith, both of Norfolk; three stepsisters, Edith Pope, Lenora Lollar and Phyllis Williams, all of Norfolk; two brothers, Ronald Green and Andrew Green, both of Norfolk; two stepbrothers, Luke Wesby and Alphonso Wesby, both of Norfolk; a grandchild, Tameeka Fletcher of Norfolk; a godmother, Nancy Fletcher of Norfolk; two aunts, Lois Pigford and Alma Harrison; devoted friend, Catherine J. Breathwaite of Norfolk; two brothers-in-law, James Smith, Joe Littles and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Marjorie Green, all of Norfolk; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his father, Richard Green Sr.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday by the Dr. I. Joseph Williams, Senior Pastor, in Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, Norfolk. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Garden, Norfolk. Metropolitan Funeral Service is handling arrangements. A wake service will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Family and friends will assemble at 10 a.m. Thursday at 628 Georgia Avenue, Norfolk, for the funeral procession to the church.
