Joseph W. Moger Sr., 73, formerly of Washington, Pa., went home to be with the Lord on June 10, 1996, from his home. He was born on June 27, 1922, in Hickory, Pa., son of the late John and Mary Tarca Moger.
Mr. Moger was a member of the Bayside Baptist Church, Virginia Beach, where he was an active member of the Cornerstone Sunday school class; he was a former deacon and head usher. He was formerly a member of the First Lutheran Church of Washington.
Following graduation from Cartiers Township High School, Mr. Moger was a superintendent with Washington Mould & Machine for 27 1/2 years; then chief of maintenance for Hampton Roads Sanitation District for 21 years, retiring in 1989. He was also a part-time pipeline inspector for Smith, Demmes and Normann, Hampton.
On December 6, 1941, he married Nancy Paul. Mrs. Moger survives.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Moger is survived by a son, Joseph W. Moger Jr. and his wife, Brenda, of Suffolk; two daughters, Mrs. Doug (Jo Ann) Ruetschi, of Claysville, Pa. and Mrs. Weeden (Sharon) Blair, of Virginia Beach; a sister, Mrs. Ann Brink, of Strabane, Pa.; 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday in the Piatt and Barnhill Funeral Home, Washington, Pa., where funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday with the Rev. Kenneth Schott officiating. Interment will follow in the Prosperity Cemetery. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Bayside Baptist Church, 1920 Pleasure House Road, Virginia Beach 23455, or the American Heart Association.
