Lillian A. Burgess, 83, went to be with the Lord on Monday, June 10, 1996.
She was born in Perquimans County, N.C., and had retired as a sales clerk with Rices Department Store. She had attended Trinity Baptist and Fox Hall Baptist. She was a member of the Eastern Star and the Norfolk Rose Society. She was predeceased by her first husband, Irvin T. Mansfield and her second husband, Frederick P. Burgess.
Survivors include a daughter, Ann M. Unruh and her husband, Marion of Portland, Ore.; a son, Harold T. Mansfield and his wife, Dorothy of Chesapeake; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Mrs. Burgess was also predeceased by two brothers, Alfred Rountree Jr. and Robert Rountree and a sister, Evelyn Hill.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday in Forest Lawn Cemetery with Mr. Rupert Wallace officiating. Friends are invited to view the body beginning today at Smith and Williams Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel.
She will be fondly remembered by family and friends with whom she shared her love of roses.
