David Eugene Phillips, 39, of the 1500 block of Ohio Ave., died at his residence.
He was a maintenance supervisor for Providence Development Corp., an umpire for the National Softball Association and a Protestant.
Survivors include his mother, Natalie M. Santora Phillips of Moyock, N.C.; his father, Harold Eugene Phillips and his stepmother, Loretta S. Phillips, both of Chesapeake; two sons, David Eugene Phillips II of Virginia Beach and John Harold Phillips of Richmond, Va.; a stepson, Thomas Busciligo III of Virginia Beach; two sisters, Elizabeth F. Graham of Altamonte Springs, Fla., and Deborah La Shomb of Moyock; a brother, Michael Allen Phillips of Santa Ana, Calif.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Twiford Colonial Chapel by the Rev. Ron Mullen and Daniel Davy. A private burial will be held in Moyock Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Twiford Colonial Chapel, Great Bridge, Chesapeake, today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, Southampton Roads Chapter, 101 W. Plume St., Norfolk, Va. 23510.
