JANET Y. BLACKWELL

Janet Y. Blackwell was the first child of Wardell and Virginia Brown. She was born in Norfolk on Oct. 13, 1956, and departed this life on June 10, 1996.

She was a member of the Rhema Christian Center in Newport News. She was educated in the public schools of Norfolk. She had been employed at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard as a computer clerk for a number of years.

Cherishing her memory are two lovely children, Jewell and Gino; her father and mother; sisters, Corinthia Murphy, Tina Brown, Lisa Brown; brother, Wardell E. Brown Jr.; maternal grandmother, Magie Bass; a dear friend, Melvin Barry; and a host of relatives and friends.

Janet was a loving person with a friendly and outgoing personality. She possessed a smile that was luminous. She was a joy to her family and friends.

A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in Pretlow and Sons' Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake. ILLUSTRATION: Photo
