Joseph George Deneke, 70, died June 11, 1996, in Norfolk.
Mr. Deneke was a Catholic. He retired from the Navy and owned Viking Furniture. He was a former mayor of Kill Devil Hills. He was a member of the First Flight Centennial Commission.
Survivors include his wife, Elisabeth J. Deneke; two daughters, Doris J. Deneke and Michelle J. Deneke; a son, Bernard J. Deneke; and a sister, Patricia Borgerdine.
A private ceremony is to be held in Oriental, N.C., today at 10 a.m. An Outer Banks memorial service is tentatively scheduled for Sunday, June 23. Further details will be announced. In lieu of flowers please make contributions to the American Heart Association.
