Rebecca Nurney Turner, 86, died June 12, 1996, in Riverside Convalescent Center.
She was a native of Isle of Wight County and a homemaker. Mrs. Turner was a member of Smithfield Baptist Church, the B.L. Wells Sunday School Class, the Ladies Auxiliary of Smithfield Volunteer Fire Department and Nike Park Bridge Club.
Survivors include two sons, Charles E. Turner of Virginia Beach, Thomas F. Turner of Richmond; two sisters, Quennie N. Stoops of Aliquippa, Pa. and Maggie M. McDaniels of Lakeland, Fla.; a brother, Claude A. Nurney of Ivor; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in Smithfield Baptist Church with Dr. Donald R. Rhoton officiating. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall and suggests memorial contributions be made to Smithfield Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 117, Smithfield, Va. 23431 or Smithfield Baptist Church Building Fund, 100 Wainwright Drive, Smithfield, 23430. Colonial Funeral Home, Smithfield, is in charge.
