MARIE L. KENDRICK

Marie Louise Kendrick, 102, died June 14, 1996.

A native of Russell County, Va., she lived in Suffolk for 80 years before moving to Virginia Beach in 1983. She was the daughter of the late William James Kendrick and Anna Everett Kendrick. Miss Kendrick was a retired school teacher. She taught first grade at John Randolph School in Suffolk for 47 years. She was the principal for 20 years. She was the valedictorian of the 1910 Suffolk High School graduating class. She was a graduate of Farmville State Teacher College. A member of First Baptist Church, she taught in the Sunday school for years. She also was a member of the Retired Teachers Association, Virginia Education Association, Order of Eastern Star, and a former member of the American Association of University Women and the King's Daughter.

She is survived by a number of cousins.

A graveside service will be conducted Monday at 2 p.m. in Cedar Hill Cemetery by the Rev. Charles W. Thompson and the Rev. Allen Johnson. R.W. Baker and Company Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
