Robert Lee ``Smitty'' Smith Sr., 59, of the 4600 block of Larkin St., died June 11, 1996.
A native of Norfolk, he retired from DePaul Hospital after 28 years of service. He was a member of St. John A.M.E., Norfolk.
Survivors include his wife, Roberta Smith; three daughters, Darlene Smith and Lisa Smith, both of Norfolk and Cathy White of Chesapeake; two sons, Alan Smith and Robert Smith Jr., both of Norfolk; his parents, Mattie Brown and Charles Brown; a sister, Carolyn Cowell; eight grandchildren, Alan Thorton, Kimberly Pitchford, Christina White, Antawyn Smith, Tiffany White, Antonio Smith, Alaina King and Alisha Smith; a great-grandchild, Zaghaun Thornton; a niece, Carolyn Brown; a nephew, Charles Cowell; and a host of aunts and uncles, other family members and friends.
A funeral will be conducted at noon Monday by the Rev. I.W. Knight Sr., pastor, in St. Johns A.M.E. Burial is in Roosevelt Memorial Park. Hale Funeral Home is handling arrangements. The body will be placed in church at 10 a.m. Monday. The family will gather at the home at 11 a.m. Monday.
