RUTH M. JONES

Ruth Marie Jones, of 36382 Broadwater Road, died June 13, 1996, in Henrico Doctors Hospital, Richmond.

She was the daughter of the late Robert ``Bob'' Lee Davis and Annie Drew Davis. She had resided in Ivor all of her life. She was a member of Mars Hill A.M.E. Zion Church, Wakefield, where she served as a deaconess and mother of the church. She was preceded in death by a sister, Dollie Davis Tardd and a brother, Isacc Davis.

She is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Rev. Arbie L. Jones; four sons and three daughters-in-law, Abraham L. and Pearl Jones and Sylvester L. Jones, both of Ivor, Arbrey L. and Brenda Jones of Kempner, Texas, and Larry L. and Harriett Jones of Richmond; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Mary Ann Jones, Barbara and Carl Wilson, all of Petersburg, Isabelle and Oliver Cheeseman of Williamsburg, and Ruby and Carroll Porter of Newsome; a brother and two sisters-in-law, Wilbur and Alice Davis of Ivor, Georgia Davis of Ivor; three sisters, Helen Winegan of Baltimore, Md., Lucy Rose of Wickhaven, Pa., and Isabel Peden of Ivor; seven grandsons; seven granddaughters; two great-grandsons; two great-granddaughters; and a host of other relatives and friends.

The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday in Mars Hill A.M.E. Zion Church by the Rev. Ronald D. Cook. Interment will be in the Davis Family Cemetery, Ivor. The remains will lie in state at the church on Monday at 11:45 a.m. until the hour of the service. Relatives and friends are asked to assemble at the residence, 36382 Broadwater Road, Ivor, at noon. The family will receive friends at the residence, 36382 Broadwater Road. Remains rest at Tucker's Funeral Home, Petersburg.
