JOSEPH M. ESCRICHE

Joseph Manuel Escriche, 71, of the 3500 block of Shore Drive, died June 13, 1996, in his residence.

Mr. Escriche, a native of Frackville, Pa., retired from the U.S. Navy as a chief petty officer and retired from civil service as a technical report writer. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and Korea. He was active in local politics.

Survivors include his former wife, Mary Jane Escriche Moatz of Portsmouth; three daughters, Carol Ann Parker of West Jordan, Utah, Victoria L. Schmitz and Mary Adams, both of Portsmouth; two sons, Manuel J. Escriche of Darmstadt, Germany, Michael Angelo Escriche of Chesapeake; three sisters, Victoria Carey, Joan Hunter, Georgine Fetter; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m., at which time a reception will be announced. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Childrens Hospital.
