Louis Ambrose Chappell, 77, of the 1100 block of Ryland Road, died Saturday, June 15, 1996, in Albemarle Hospital, Elizabeth City.
Mr. Chappell was born in Chowan County. The son of the late William Thomas and Mrs. Lucy Minerva Lamb Chappell, he was a retired farmer and trucker. He was a Quaker.
Survivors include his wife, Geneva C. Chappell; five daughters, Frances C. Evans and Lois C. Coltrain, both of Edenton, Marian C. Grier of Colorado Springs, Colo., Gloria C. Wheeler of Tyner and Sarah C. Moore of Los Angeles; three sisters, Alice C. Byrum of Tyner, Myra C. Messner of West Chester, Pa., and Mary C. Winslow of Belvidere; two brothers, Walton Chappell of West Chester, Pa., and Milton Chappell of Tyner; 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Beaver Hill Cemetery, Edenton, by the Rev. Ken Spivey and the Rev. Ron Cava. Friends may join the family from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday in Miller Funeral Home, Gatesville, and other times at the residence.
