Low-power television station WPEN achieved a milestone last month.
The Hampton-based station claims to have become the first low-power station in a Top 40 TV market to have achieved a ``cumulative rating'' of more than 10 percent in its market.
The rating means that during the week measured last month by Nielsen Media Research, at least 10 percent of local households were estimated to have watched at least one program on WPEN.
The three-year-old low-power station, which shows a mix of off-network reruns, syndicated shows, business news and sports, achieved the milestone largely because it has landed on the lineups of local cable-TV operators.
Jennifer Sanford, WPEN's business development manager, said the Nielsen rating will help the station get better programming and reach higher-profile advertisers. by CNB
