ELTON T. WHITE

Elton Thomas White, 74, of the 3300 block of Ridgefield Drive, died June 17, 1996, in a local hospital.

Mr. White, a native of South Norfolk, retired in 1984 from N.A.R.F. He worked in civil service for 40 years. He was a member of St. Johns United Methodist Church, Norfolk. He was a veteran of World War II, U.S. Army 324th Medical Bath 99 Infantry Division. He was a member of 99th Infantry Division Association. He was awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. Mr. White participated in the Battle of the Bulge during World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Erline G. White; a son, Vernon T. White of Virginia Beach; a brother, Joseph D. White of Newport News; a grandson, Christopher Horak of Virginia Beach.

The funeral will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday by the Rev. G.C. Shepherd in St. Johns United Methodist Church, Norfolk. Military honors will be accorded at the church on Wednesday. Burial will be at 1:45 p.m. Wednesday in Cudworth Cemetery, Wanchese, N.C. Memorial donations may be made to St. Johns United Methodist Church Heating and Air Conditioning Fund. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, is in charge.
