Police on Monday arrested the 51-year-old roommate of an East Ocean View woman and charged him with murdering her Saturday, police said.
The suspect, Richard Lacey, a city sanitation worker, was taken into custody about 1 a.m. Monday, then arrested about two hours later.
Police said the victim, Montrose Woodhouse, 44, was found in her apartment about 3 p.m. Saturday in the 9500 block of 29th Bay St. Her daughter had gone to the apartment to check on her, but got no answer when she knocked on the door. The body was found when the apartment manager opened the door.
Police did not release a cause of death or motive in the shooting. The victim's body was taken to the state medical examiner's office.
Police also said Monday that a man who was shot in the head on the same block Saturday was killed accidentally. The victim, Imanu Phillips, 21, was found lying on the ground outside between 1 and 2 a.m. Saturday in the 9500 block of 29th Bay Street. He died about 5 a.m. in a hospital.
No other details were available.
