[ISLE OF WIGHT] - BUSINESS BRIEFS

HRSD HONOR: Moody Septic Tank Service & Concrete Co., 202 N. Church St., was recently honored by the Hampton Roads Sanitation District for its perfect compliance record with HRSD's wastewater pretreatment program.

The program helps control the discharge of potentially harmful substances into the environment. Companies in the program pretreat their waste before its discharge into the wastewater collection system, which ultimately keeps the Chesapeke Bay cleaner.

Moody Septic is owned by brothers Nelson P. and S. Dawson Moody.

BOOKSTORE HONOR: Kay Remick, owner of Edward T. Rabbit & Co. Books for Children in Richmond, was presented the Micheels Pannell Award at the American Booksellers' Association June 15 in Chicago.

This award is given annually to a children's specialty bookstore for its success in bringing children and books together.

Remick is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Gwaltney and the sister of Lucy G. Clay, all of Smithfield.

SANTURE PROMOTION: Larry R. Santure, 45, has been named vice president of V.W. Joyner & Co. in Smithfield.

Santure has been general manager of that company since April 1995. Before joining Joyner's, he was a district sales manager with Kraft Foodservices Inc. of Virginia and a former military officer. by CNB
