FED UP WITH BOTH PARTIES

Once again Virginia voters have proved that they know more about what they want than the political parties.

For months we have been hearing from the state Republican Party how bad Sen. John Warner is for Virginia and that he is not the choice of the people, but he has just won a large victory in the primary.

I guess since the state Republican Party favored Jim Miller by such a large margin and since he received only 30 percent of the vote, then it stands to reason that the party represents only 34 percent of Republicans.

I know this is a gross oversimplification, but true. I am sure the same can be said about the Democratic Party, which means that both major political parties represent 34 percent of the people.

The reason the Republican Party doesn't like Warner is that he votes his conscience and for what he thinks is best and not the way the leaders of the party want him to vote.

I am getting really tired of both parties, Republican and Democrat, having as their main platform making the other party look bad.

Both parties say they know what is best and that they alone have all the right answers. Their refusal to work together for the good of all has got to stop.

Maybe John Warner's victory will wake up both parties to the fact that the public is getting tired of their bickering and to the fact that they should work together for the good of the state and the country instead of just working for what is best for their party and their leaders or special-interest groups. Both parties need to nominate the best candidate they have and not just someone who will follow orders.
