Robert Hunter Neilson Jr., 68, died at his home on Tuesday, June 18, 1996.
A native of Fair Oaks, Pa., Mr. Neilson moved to Hatteras Island in 1978 following his retirement. He was a member of the Plumbers and Steam Fitters Local Union (NU)47 in Monaca, Pa. He served as a pilot in the U.S. Navy from 1945 through 1948. He was predeceased by his parents, Robert Hunter Neilson and Elsie Margarette Lynn; his brothers, Coy, Jack and Wallace; and a son, Scott.
Survivors include his wife, Emma Jean Neilson; a sister, Louise Russell of Pennsylvania; four sons, David of Ohio, Bruce of Virginia, Rod of Pennsylvania, and Gregory of New York; a daughter, Leslie Eilmes of Virginia; four granddaughters; and three grandsons including his namesake, Hunter Alan Eilmes.
A memorial service will be held at Little Grove Methodist Church in Frisco at 3 p.m. Friday. The family will receive friends at the home following the service. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
