As we go through life, it's remarkable what we learn. For the first time in my 40-plus years, I unearthed the real secret of accumulating great wealth. I would have never found this secret wealth builder if it had not been for our ardent public servant professionals in the city treasurer's office.
The process is so easy anyone can do it. You can even do this while you are lying on the beach. This secret is so simple it's a wonder no one has ever thought of it before. All you need is a 5-year-old vehicle with over 100,000 miles. (Recently assessed as having a real value of $1,800 by a qualified used car appraiser.)
Now, how does this wealth builder work? Simple, have the city treasurer's office assess your vehicle as they did mine. In 1994, my vehicle only had a value of $4,450. In 1995, this very same vehicle had increased in assessed value to $6,300. This is a 41 percent increase in assessed value in just one year! Try to get that kind of rate out of your bank.
Now, if you take the assessed value against the appraised value, I have made a whopping 71 percent on just that one vehicle in only one year. At that rate, I will be a billionaire by the time I reach 50 just off the one vehicle. Just think of the possibilities with two cars. When I questioned the wonderful people at the city treasurer's office how this could be possible, the answer I got was that they only go by ``the book'' value. Now everyone can realize the true potential of this great wealth building power on all of their personal property.

June 2 Come see the other side
I would like to reply to the June 7 letter by Nicholas Delphia. I write in my capacity as an SPCA volunteer, working two days a week at the front desk.
I am sorry you didn't have a good experience at our SPCA. I'd like to invite you to stand beside me for a few days to see the other side - to take in perhaps 15 cats and six or seven dogs in any given day for varying reasons including ``I got this dog home and it wasn't the kind my husband (or wife/roommate) had in mind'' or ``my landlord won't let us have a pet'' or ``our other dog won't accept this one.''
Our four-page application has a purpose. We want to know you live where you say you do, we want everyone in the family, including the other dog, to want this new member of the family; we want to know if it's OK with the terms of your lease if you rent; and we want to know this pet will have the companionship of a family and live inside the home.
It's very stressful for a dog or cat to be taken from its home to be brought to any shelter. We'd like to see that it doesn't happen again. Sometimes the application helps give them that security.
I'm glad you found a dog at the Animal Assistance League. I am an active member of that organization, too. All pets in all shelters deserve a home.
