CHARLES E. WARD

Charles Edward Ward, 72, of the 10000 block of Harrell Mill Road, died June 19, 1996, at home.

A native of South Mills, N.C., he was the son of the late Harry Beecher and Elizabeth Bartlett Ward. Mr. Ward had retired as a consultant forester and was formerly employed by Union Camp Corp. and Sheffield Lumber Co. He was a flight engineer in the Army Air Corps during World War II, and was a member of the Wakefield Veterans Club.

He is survived by his wife, Flora Jean Britt Ward; a daughter, Winnie W. Kessinger of Wakefield; two sons, Charles Britt Ward of Anchorage, Ala., and Harry Beecher Ward II of Waverly; a brother, Harry Bartlett Ward of Winton, N.C.; four grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Wakefield Baptist Church by the Rev. Ron Carlberg. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Waverly Rescue Squad. Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, is in charge of arrangements.
