CAROLINE P. RYDER

Caroline Poole Ryder, 83, a long-time resident of Norfolk and Virginia Beach, died Friday, June 14, 1996, at the Florida Lutheran Retirement Center.

She was a native of Rushmere, in Isle of Wight County. Mrs. Ryder was a graduate of the Norfolk Memorial Hospital School of Nursing and worked as a full-time nurse for 44 years. She was a member of First Lutheran Church, Norfolk, and was active in the Antique Car Club and the Moose organization. She enjoyed hobbies. Mrs. Ryder was predeceased by two sisters, Betty Athey and Ann Eads.

Survivors include her husband, Fred Ryder of Deland; a son and his wife, John and Sallie Ryder of Wilmington, N.C.; a daughter and her husband, Elizabeth Jaiser and Lory Snipes of Miami; a stepdaughter and her husband, Joyce Ryder and Curtis Kimsey of Norfolk; four grandchildren, James Ryder, Stephen Snipes, Jennifer Snipes Taylor and Thomas Snipes; four great-grandchildren and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews in the Tidewater area.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Ivy Hill Cemetery, Smithfield, with the Rev. Jay Ashby officiating. Colonial Funeral Home, Smithfield, is handling arrangements locally.
