James Joyner of the 3100 block of Perrone Ave. died June 18, 1996, in DePaul Medical Center.
A native of Halifax County, N.C., he was the widower of Louise Joyner. Mr. Joyner retired as lead man of the PWC division for the City of Norfolk after 30 years of service.
Left to cherish his memory are a daughter Joyce Rheubottom of Virginia Beach; stepdaughter Margaret James of East Orange, N.J.; three sisters, Lenora Northington of Enfield, N.C., Pauline Garrett of Rocky Mount, N.C., and Geneive Tillery of Richmond, Va.; a brother, Hubert Joyner of Enfield, N.C.; an aunt, Olivia Williams of Enfield; four grandchildren, Cheryl Rheubottom of Virginia Beach, Kenneth Rheubottom of Raleigh, N.C., Keith Rheubottom of Chesapeake and Rodney Rheubottom of Fort Carson, Colo; a stepgrandchild, Pamela Singleton of Orlando, Fla.; three great-grandchildren, Dion Rheubottom of Virginia Beach, and Latasha Rheubottom and Brandon Rheubottom, both of Raleigh; and a special niece, Mattie Hunter of Enfield.
A funeral will be conducted at noon Saturday in Graves Funeral Home Chapel by Bishop Anthony Moses. Burial will be in Rosewood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at his residence.
