Russell Patten ``Pat'' Geer, 76, of the 300 block of Carbonton Road, died Wednesday June 12, 1996.
Born in Norfolk, he was a son of the late Russell Patten Geer and Maud Barnes Geer. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Makepeace Geer who her married in 1946. Pat graduated and played football at Wake Forest College. He was a World War II veteran carrying the rank of second lieutenant in the Army/Air Force where he was a bombardier on the B-24 and B-29 Aircraft. He was a merchant in Sanford since 1946. Mr. Geer was a member of the Lions Club, Sanford Rotary Club, founding director of Mid South Bank, chairman of North Carolina Seashore Advisory Board from 1970 to 1972 and a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church.
Mr. Geer is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Geer Mimidis of Garner and his son-in-law, John Mimidis; several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. today in St. Luke United Methodist Church by the Rev. Dr. Paul Leeland and the Rev. Beth Hood. Burial will follow in Buffalo Cemetery. Rogers-Pickard Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
