BARBARA H. RUFFIN

Barbara Jean Hall Ruffin, 45, of 200 block of North 5th St., died June 18, 1996, in her home.

A native of Suffolk, Ms. Ruffin was the daughter of the late Douglas Hall and Della Mae Eure Hall. She was a teacher for the S.T.O.P. Organization and Head Start for 20 years. She was a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, Portsmouth, and a graduate of John F. Kennedy High School, class of 1969. She attended Paul D. Camp Community College.

Survivors include a daughter, Teresa Renee Thomas of Newport News; a son, Shaun Levelley Ruffin of Suffolk; two brothers, Raymond Hall and Earl Hall, both of Suffolk; nine grandchildren, Danielle Ruffin, Derrek, Courtney and Sydney Thomas, Rapheal Delk, Sheryl Mabrey, Ashley and Tevin Ruffin, Kortney Brown; a godson, Justin Hampton; two aunts, Ruby Hill of Portsmouth, Easter Banks of Norfolk; and an uncle, Moses Eure of Norfolk.

A funeral will be at noon Saturday in Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, 901 Thomas Circle, Portsmouth, by Dr. W.S. Hampton. Burial will be in Carver Memorial Park Cemetery. Crocker Funeral Home is handling arrangements. The remains of Ms. Ruffin will lie in state from 10:30 a.m. until the service. ILLUSTRATION: Photo
