Gene Leonard Earley Sr., 65, of Route 4, died June 20, 1996, in his home.
A native of Hertford County, N.C., Mr. Earley was a retired insurance agent for Western-Southern Life Insurance Co. He was a member of Hickory Chapel Free Will Baptist Church, Ahoskie, and a member of American Legion, Weldon, N.C.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Brinkley Earley; four daughters, Pam Moore of Monroe, Conn., Vicki Francis of Waynesville, N.C., Lynette Butler of Stokes, N.C. and Sheryl Jager of Aulander, N.C.; a son, Gene L. Earley Jr. of Ft. Walton Beach, Fla.; his mother, Isolind Slaughter Earley of Rich Square, N.C.; two sisters, Hannah Lupton, Deborah Knight, both of Franklin, Va.; two brothers, Willie M. Earley of Franklin, Robert E. Earley of Orlando, Fla.; and ten grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Hickory Chapel Free Will Baptist Church by the Rev. Robert May. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Gardens. Garrett Funeral Home, Ahoskie, is handling arrangements. Family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Roanoke Chowan Hospice, P.O. Box 272, Ahoskie, N.C. 27910.
