The Dare County Tourist Bureau has awarded more than $13,000 in grants to local organizations planning events designed to bring visitors to the Outer Banks during the off-season.
Tim Midgett, chairman of the Advertising & Promotions Committee of the bureau, said the funded projects will provide an economic boost to Dare County during the fall and winter seasons.
Organizations receiving funding include: Tar Heel Craftsman's Fair, $2,768; Dare County Shrine Club, Fall Shrine Ceremonial, $2,450; Frisco Native American Museum, First Annual Hatteras Island Native American Festival, $300; Hatteras Island Business Association, Annual Auction & Taste of Hatteras Island, $3,400; International Icarus, 4th Annual International Icarus Arts Exhibition, $2,000; and the Wanchese Seafood Festival Committee, $2,500. by CNB
