Francis McCarty died June 21, 1996, in his home.
Mr. McCarty, a retired agent for Esso Gas Co., retired from the Navy as a BMC after 31 years. He was a veteran of World War II. He was a native of Portmouth and a Catholic. Mr. McCarty was a member of Fleet Reserve Branch 60.
Survivors include his wife, Gaye B. McCarty; two brothers, George McCarty and Gerald McCarty, both of Portsmouth; a sister, Elizabeth Howell of Norfolk; two sisters-in-law, Faye B. Omdahl and Dorothy B. Spruell, both of Norfolk; a nephew, W. Kenneth Hurst of Kitty Hawk, N.C.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in Forest Lawn Cemetery with military honors. The family will receive friends in his home. Smith and Williams Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel, is in charge.
