Versie Joyce Coggins, 65, of the 5100 block of George Washington Highway, died June 20, 1996, in a Norfolk hospital.
Mrs. Coggins, a native of Sampson County, N.C., was the daughter of the late Willie C. Strickland and Vera Strickland Godwin. She was a Baptist.
Survivors include her husband, Charles F. Coggins; two daughters, Brenda J. Garcia of Pensacola, Fla., Janice M. Nalos of Orange Park, Fla.; three sons, William C. Coggins of Norfolk, Donald R. Coggins and Ronald W. Coggins, both of Portsmouth; 14 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by two sons, James R. Coggins and Thomas E. Coggins.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Monday in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, by the Rev. Tom Potter. Burial will be in Olive Branch Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. ILLUSTRATION: Photo
