W.J. MOORE JR.

W.J. Bucky Moore Jr., a retired Virginia Beach police captain and dairy farmer, died in his home, Friday, June 21, 1996, after a long battle with cancer.

Bucky, a native of Virginia Beach, was appointed to the Princess Anne County Police Department in 1957. He was a graduate of the National F.B.I. Academy. He was a member of Virginia Beach F.O.P. Lodge (NU)8, Bayside Masonic Lodge, Khedive Temple, Virginia Beach Shrine Club, and Virginia Farm Bureau. He also served on the board of directors of the Virginia Police Association.

Survivors include his wife, Patsy Lambert Moore; three children, W.J. ``Joey'' Moore III, Rhonda Forbes and Carolyn Meroney; seven grandchildren; three sisters, Florence Vick, Dorothy Messing and Jean Weldon; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held in Kellum Funeral Home, Rosewood Chapel, Monday at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Jay Ashby officiating. Visitation at the funeral home will be Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. Interment will be in Rosewood Memorial Park with police honors.
